DESCRIPTION
The lake belongs to the group of middle-depth reservoirs. The deepest areas are represented by three hollows (in the north-east and south-east), divided by islands and shallow water parts. The biggest islands are – Chaichin, Shova, Elna. They are located in the middle of the lake.
Coastline is mostly low (0,1-0,3 m), sandy and sandy-pebble; in the southern bay they are swamped. The lake belongs to the group of well flowing reservoirs.
Water transparency during summertime is 4,7-4,8 m. chromaticity – 15 degrees. Genetic type of the lake is mesotrophic.
Ichthyology fauna
Currently in the lake there are 21 fish species: bream, pike, eel, ide, grass carp, perch, roach, white bream, tench, silver crucian, golden crucian, burbot, vendance, snetok, rudd, bleak, ruff, gudgeon, spined loach. Four of them are introduced – eel, carp, silver cucian, grass carp. Two species inhabiting the lake (vendace, snetok) are in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus.
